Yara Ayoob

NAME :
Yara Ayoob.
OCCUPATION :
Content Creator.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN :
Manama, Bahrain.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE :
Dubai, UAE.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS :
Creative, curious, and chaotic.
WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY :
Art and culture! Very big on learning more about Arab art and culture. I also love to make installations that have a Bahraini twist to them.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS :
I like to change up my goals every year depending on whatever new interest I have or character development I’m going through that year, as of now my professional goal when it comes to content creation is to hit 1M TikTok followers by the end of the year. On the art side of things, I’d love to curate another art experience in Dubai by the end of the year.
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE MAKE-UP ARTIST :
Pat Mcgrath, to me, is a great example of a pioneer & innovator in the beauty world. Not only are her formulas unlike anything I’ve seen before but she’s also such a visionary in her artistry and is known to break boundaries.
WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF BEAUTY :
I’m a firm believer that true beauty comes from within. When I was 9 I remember reading the Roald Dahl book “Witches” and this quote always stuck with me. “If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it. A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” No makeup product, Snapchat filter, or beauty procedure will make anyone look truly beautiful if their insides aren’t beautiful to begin with.
WHAT WOULD BE BE DOING IF YOU WEREN’T IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY :
Sometimes I imagine myself getting a PhD in Arab History & Arts and teaching it at a university as well as making educational videos about it online for people to learn about our heritage and to preserve our traditions.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR JOB :
Flexible hours and being my own boss. Also, the amazing messages I get from people who love my work, it always feels surreal to me.
ARE THERE ANY DAYS YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO TO WORK :
Of course! Some days, I wonder why I’m even doing this in the first place, and then I snap out of the funk and get back to painting my face.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT WITHIN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY :
There’s no denying that there is a lot of waste in the industry. I do need to educate myself more on the matter before being able to confidently answer the question.
WHO ARE YOUR BEAUTY ICONS :
I get inspired by new people every day.
HOW HAS THE REGIONS BEAUTY INDUSTRY CHANGED IN THE LAST 5 YEARS :
The MENA beauty industry is booming, but sometimes it feels like the whole industry globally lacks real substance. Then you see icons like Huda Kattan, who not only built a global empire against all odds but also used her platform for humanitarian efforts. It’s always exciting and motivating to see regional brands go global.
