NAME :
Yara Ayoob.

OCCUPATION :
Content Creator.

WHERE WERE YOU BORN :
Manama, Bahrain.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE :
Dubai, UAE.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS :
Creative, curious, and chaotic.

WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY :
Art and culture! Very big on learning more about Arab art and culture. I also love to make installations that have a Bahraini twist to them.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS :
I like to change up my goals every year depending on whatever new interest I have or character development I’m going through that year, as of now my professional goal when it comes to content creation is to hit 1M TikTok followers by the end of the year. On the art side of things, I’d love to curate another art experience in Dubai by the end of the year.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS :
Probably still trying to find the answer to this question.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST WEAKNESS :
Something that’s a blessing and a curse for me is that I can’t work on something unless I feel stressed and I don’t have much time to complete it. I’ve been this way ever since I was a child. If there’s still time to complete a task I’ll wait until the last possible moment to complete it. If I don’t feel challenged, I don’t feel like I can work creatively. I find that some of my best ideas cook in my subconscious as I wait for time to run out. not sure how I can overcome this but hey, it works for me.

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE MAKE-UP ARTIST :
Pat Mcgrath, to me, is a great example of a pioneer & innovator in the beauty world. Not only are her formulas unlike anything I’ve seen before but she’s also such a visionary in her artistry and is known to break boundaries.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF BEAUTY :
I’m a firm believer that true beauty comes from within. When I was 9 I remember reading the Roald Dahl book “Witches” and this quote always stuck with me.

“If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

No makeup product, Snapchat filter, or beauty procedure will make anyone look truly beautiful if their insides aren’t beautiful to begin with.

WHAT WOULD BE BE DOING IF YOU WEREN’T IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY :
Sometimes I imagine myself getting a PhD in Arab History & Arts and teaching it at a university as well as making educational videos about it online for people to learn about our heritage and to preserve our traditions.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR JOB :
Flexible hours and being my own boss. Also, the amazing messages I get from people who love my work, it always feels surreal to me.

ARE THERE ANY DAYS YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO TO WORK :
Of course! Some days, I wonder why I’m even doing this in the first place, and then I snap out of the funk and get back to painting my face.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT WITHIN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY :
There’s no denying that there is a lot of waste in the industry. I do need to educate myself more on the matter before beingable to confidently answer the question.

WHO ARE YOUR BEAUTY ICONS :
I get inspired by new people every day.

HOW HAS THE REGIONS BEAUTY INDUSTRY CHANGED IN THE LAST 5 YEARS :
The MENA beauty industry is booming, but sometimes it feels like the whole industry globally lacks real substance. Then you see icons like Huda Kattan, who not only built a global empire against all odds but also used her platform for humanitarian efforts. It’s always exciting and motivating to see regional brands go global.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE PHOTOSHOOT TO DATE :
One of the most recent shoots I had in Bahrain with Bahraini photographer Ishaq Madan was to celebrate Bahrain’s win in the Gulf Cup. My favorite part about the shoot is that we actually took the celebratory shot before the match not knowing whether we were going to win or not (we knew deep down we were going to win but it could’ve gone either way). My brother balanced the ball on my head and removed his hand and we got the shot from the first try. Everything about the shoot was so easy and quick and posting it as soon as we won was quite memorable actually.

WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY :
I chopped all my hair off with safety scissors.

WHAT WERE YOU LIKE AS A KID :
Quite a diabolical diva and a chaotic child, but being the eldest in the family I was still oddly responsible and caring for a 4-year-old.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION :
My diary from when I was 12.

WHO WOULD PLAY YOU IN A MOVIE :
A villain that isn’t necessarily evil, more of a funny sassy villain that probably has a hero trope by the end of the movie. like Megamind.

CHOOSE A SUPERPOWER :
I can’t decide between teleportation or talking to animals. Deep down i’d love to be able to communicate with animals telepathically.

WHAT IS YOUR WORST TRAIT :
I’m too particular about details and how things are executed. I really have to tone it down when I’m working in a group setting.

WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT :
After my frontal lobe had fully developed, I went through an era of an intense existential crisis and that kept me up for the longest time. I’m very happy to say that that phase is over and I have accepted that we are only here temporarily and that’s our birthright as humans.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT :
Omg so much pressure I don’t know how to answer this question! I feel like it’s still on its way.

DO YOU LISTEN TO PODCASTS :
YES, I love a good podcast. The two main ones in my rotation are Diary of a CEO and The Broski Report (it’s silly and dumb, but I love it).

WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE :
Sometimes I like to go for a coffee crawl in Jumeirah. I’d order a flat white from one cafe and then go to another cafe and order another flat white. Then, I’d sit in my car by the beach and compare them. I don’t know why I do this sometimes.

YOU ARE HEADING TO THE ISS (INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION) FOR ONE MONTH, CHOOSE 4 PEOPLE TO TAKE A LONG :
They would need to be very entertaining people, so I’d choose my three siblings and our cat.

WHAT DOES A PERFECT DAY LOOK LIKE :
A day where I prayed all my prayers on time and crossed out everything off my to-do list.

IF YOU COULD BE FRIENDS WITH A FICTIONAL CHARACTER WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE :
Shrek, definitely.

CHOOSE YOUR TOP 5 MAGAZINES :
Not really a huge magazine girl, I used to love Tiger Beat when I was a teenager, but that was ages ago.

WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ :
I don’t even remember. I wish I could read more but I can’t make time for it at this point in my life.

WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU GAVE SOMEONE :
A candle for my bestie x.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU :
Passion! As a Taurus I’m a very passionate and driven person so if I’m not passionate about whatever I’m doing, I’ll probably stop doing it.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESTINATION :
I’m an island girl at heart so just put me on any beach with a power bank and an iced latte and that’s all I need.

WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE DESTINATION :
haven’t been anywhere I did not like so far.

WHAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST :
To be the face of a global campaign.

DO YOU LIKE BEING INTERVIEWED :
I do love interviews.

WHAT IS THE CLOSEST YOU HAVE COME TO DEATH :
Almost got caught in a whirlpool in the ocean in Sri Lanka.

IF YOU HAD A BOAT WHAT WOULD IT BE CALLED :
The SS YARZI.

YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM :
Screw it just do it! (WISELY).
